Clinton School Council Position Descriptions

Co-Chair(s)
Term: minimum 2 year commitment, September - September
Time: approximately 10-15 hours/month
Role/responsibilities:
Arrange, attend and chair bi-monthly Council meetings
Prepare meeting agendas
Ensure minutes are recorded and maintained
Facilitate conflict resolution
Participate as ex-officio member on Council sub-committees
Communicate with principal on behalf of Council
Treasurer
Term: minimum 1 year commitment, September - September
Time: approximately 5-10 hours/month
Role/responsibilities:
Maintain Council bank account/Quickbooks
Act as signing authority on Council account
Pick up funds from school and deposit at bank
Manage counting of funds after events
Provide accurate monthly financial report
Provide accurate end of year financial report
Attend bi-monthly Council meetings
Secretary
Term: minimum 1 year commitment, September - September
Time: approximately 3 hours/month
Role/responsibilities:
Attend and take attendance at bi-monthly Council meetings
Record minutes at Council meetings
Circulate draft minutes to Co-Chairs within a week of meeting
Send approved minutes to Communications Officer for posting to website
Communications Officer
Term: minimum 1 year commitment, September - September
Time: approximately 5-8 hours/month
Role/responsibilities:
Create & maintain content on Council website
Draft/edit/deploy e-communications
Create promotional materials for council events and initiatives
Attend bi-monthly Council meetings
Ward Rep(s)
Term: minimum 1 year commitment, September - September
Time: approximately 2-4 hours/month
Role/responsibilities:
Attend Ward meetings
Stay up-to-date on advocacy issues affecting the school
Act as liaison between Ward/Trustee and Clinton community
Attend bi-monthly Council meetings
Advocacy Lead
Term: minimum 1 year commitment, September - September
Time: approximately 2-4 hours/month
Role/responsibilities:
Subscribe to education-related newsletters
Stay up-to-date on advocacy issues affecting the school/students/families
Make recommendations to Council on how we can get involved in issues related to our school/students
Act as liaison between School Council and Clinton community
Attend bi-monthly Council meetings
