Potluck Q&A
I heard there’s a potluck dinner at the school. When is it again?
It’s all going down the night of Wednesday, December 3rd. Doors open at 5pm and we will wrap up by 7pm.
Our gym will be transformed into an elegant, chaotic, brightly lit dining hall. And the art room will be filled with all the deliciousness Clinton families can cook up.
Cool. So how will it all work? Do I have to pay, or sign up?
No payment required. SIGNUP HERE, but that’s really just to know what we can expect. Bring your dish with you (appetizer, main, dessert, snacks, whatever), set it down in the appropriate area of the art room, grab a plate, and fill it up! We will provide plates, napkins, and compostable cutlery.
When you’re ready to go home, please remember to bring your dish/tupperware/crystal serving bowl with you.
What should I make?
As long as it is NUT-free, there’s no limits. Paella. Casseroles. Mac n’ Cheese. Fried Kibbeh. Greek salad. A giant hunk of cheese. Homemade Bread. Go nuts (just, no actual nuts). Check the sign up link to see what others are bringing, so we don’t have ten lasagnas…although that’s a good problem.
Can we reserve tables?
We accept walk-ins only. We also encourage family style dining, ideally with families you don’t necessarily know already. Break bread. Make friends.
My kids are picky. What will they eat?
Sigh…there will be lots of variety. Plenty of simple carbs for all. And we may supplement with additional foods parent council brings in. But also…you get what you get and you don’t get upset.
How about drinks?
Bring a refillable water bottle or just cups for water. We will also be selling some drinks (Bubly and juice boxes).
How can I help?
That’s so kind. We need lots of hands to set up and decorate that afternoon, then to stay a bit after the feast and help clean up. The more the merrier. Just email council if you’re able to pitch in.
What else will be going on that night?
There’s plants to pick up from our Art Smart Sale, and the choir will be performing for all those eager diners. But the biggest draw is the Book Fair, up in the library, put on by the wonderful Another Story, and curated by Ms. Baek and staff. Shopping. Reading. Singing. Eating. And plants. What else do you need to cut through the December darkness?
I'm not much of a cook. Can I bring in takeouts (nut free)?
Yes.
Set your ovens to bake, break out the stretchy pants, and get ready to load up your paper plates at our upcoming Clinton community potluck.
For one night only, the gymnasium will be transformed into a hub of deliciousness, filled to the brim with whatever goodness your kitchens can cook up. Casseroles, pasta salads, empanadas, lasagnas, latkes, and so so many warm-ish carbs! Start the feasting season off right by breaking bread with your Clinton community. Meet new friends. Laugh with old ones. Then take a second trip to the buffet!
The Clinton Choir will be there, serenading diners with a smorgasbord of musical treats. There will be fresh Clinton fashions dropping from your friends at council, and our Book Fair fundraiser will be in full force in the building. Another Story Bookshop is selling books for every possible reader in your family, so get ready to stock up for the holidays, or just reward your kids (and yourself) for making it through fall with a great read. 20% of every book sold goes back to support literacy programs at Clinton.
If you would love join in the planning fun, please email the Clinton Council here.
